Ship-owner Ship-owner, transporter
Agency Organization that operates on behalf of the ship-owner as a representative at any port
NVOCC “Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier” (Transporter without an owned ship)
Co-Loader Person who carries out transportation by consolidating his own load with the forwarder’s load
Forwarder Organizing firm that carries out the land, airline, maritime and railway transport, customs clearance and insurance services and has an active agency network

Port Terms
Storage Storage at the port
Demurrage The ship exceeding the time allocated for its loading and unloading, or failure to clear a load stored in a container from customs and unload in the allocated time
Free Time The time the load can wait without going into demurrage. Demurrage is imposed in case of time-out.
THC (Terminal Handling Fee) : Handling fee at the port
Temporary Admission According to the customs legislation in Turkey, containers are properties subject to customs. This is the customs clearance cost that results from a container being removed from the customs area at the port or being brought back to the port.
Freight Charge Terms
CAF (Currency Adjustment Factor) Inclusion of US Dollar fluctuations in the freight charge
BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor) Inclusion of fuel oil price fluctuations in the freight charge for overseas transport
Primage Additional fee added by the ship-owner to lower the risk, generally used in freight charges for exports from Turkey
War Risk Surcharge (WRS) Additional fee added to the freight charge in navigations to ports with risk of war
High Cube Surcharge Additional fee collected for High Cube containers
IMCO Charge Additional fee requested by the ship-owner in hazardous material transports
